How to ACTUALLY Use Books to Improve at Jazz
Переглядів 43 тис.5 місяців тому
Books are epic. But some people have a book phobia. I get it, because yes, if all you did was read books in the practice room, then for sure you can't get better at improvisation with just that alone. But that doesn't mean to throw the books away! If you are smart, you can figure out where books can play a very helpful role in your development. 25 Melodic Etudes on Jazz Standards (use code NG5...

This is a vlog that laid dormant in my iPhone photo gallery, until now! The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival is starting back up soon (February 2024), so I figured now is a good time to post this! How Good is the Nexus Edge Alto Mouthpiece?
Переглядів 16 тис.6 місяців тому
I received this mouthpiece over a month ago but still hadn't touched it, because I love my Meyer 6M (refaced by Thomas Occhiuto). Finally, for this video, I picked it up and tried it. And wow! I am genuienly surprised at how good it is. I even did a blind A&B test to my brother Zack and he went with the Nexus. I never thought something could dethrone my baby (my Meyer), but here we are. I will ...

How’s is the 62 with the v1 neck?
Can you please bring him back to make a classical tenor video.
I think im stuggling to play sax the nasic instrument to me guitar piano drum and trumpet🤕
Review the xaphoon
That’s a damn good horn. I hope that price doesn’t go up dramatically because I’m hoping to save up enough money to buy one. (I’m an alto player but I’m looking to buy my first tenor.) Also, not to sound like a total hipster, but I love the small-business, DIY style of musician-made instruments. As great as Selmer or Yamaha horns are, I especially love saxophones that are made by players and are sold by players.
My Mario kart lick is way better LOL ua-cam.com/users/shorts2khx18bYnho?si=JL_wCj9ZbZaGdbVp
Your Mario kart lick is nothing against mine ua-cam.com/users/shorts2khx18bYnho?si=JL_wCj9ZbZaGdbVp LOL 😂
I would love to do this !
this worked 1111x times better for me than other tutorials, and as a self-taught saxophonist I bow to you
I have a legere 2.0. what I REALLY do not like is that it's not absorbent, so my saliva just pools and buzzes horribly. That said, for a back up every day long lasting reed to noodle on it's great, for actually playing, no.
Saying that practicing 12 hours a day is not worth it with Parker behind you is hilarious😂
Desde quando precisa fazer boca de sapo pra tocar Jazz Sax?
Is that a modern or vintage meyer?
im auditioning for jazz 💀
I have a jupiter alto sax and it's really nice
3:30 💀
I used Flavoreeds when I was learning alto sax in 4th grade, and the blue raspberry 1.5 reeds were my jam, they perfectly complimented my mouth full of braces with teal and hot pink bracket bands because 90's 😅
Nice outro
Its always the reed
Okay now all 12 keys
Excellent video from you two! Loved the Kokiri Forest touch at the sound off. 😂
Soon as I press they go straight down…😂
Coulda fooled me, thought it be the Mario lick.
SUS?
i bought it, it really sounds good, for the price you really cant go wrong, i dont understand how they make money out of this !
Been thinking about switching from tenor trombone to sax
"Hey, Welcome to my Saxophone Cavern hahahahahahahahaha
I love the way u talk
I keep coming back to this video for the jazz Ibert… genius 😂
Wait What? Ken Beason passed away?🙏
What reed and mouthpiece should I get if I want to play more of a jazz way
Meyer for alto or Otto Link for tenor are good choices. I like Vandoren ZZs for reeds.
@@Jordan-ll5eq thank you and do you also do lessons
Was this really only 5 years ago. You have come a long way since this video
Saxlogic has been my idle since day of his career
What's the song playing from 11:53 onwards?
that embouchure adjustment is sooo clean
Is there a setup for the nexus select other than the nexus brand mouthpiece and ligature?
You gotta check out foolishfrankies cover on this, it’s probably the best I’ve ever heard (besides yours of course)
sound 👁️ 👁️ 👄
I'm a three-time all-state jazz bari sax player, and I've loved every part of it. The funniest thing to me, is that I never even practiced the audition music that much. I was always playing in groups at my school so I never thought a whole lot of the audition material, since I was basically playing that stuff all the time, basically every day. I love to listen to other people play, and I think that's how I grew so fast musically. Now I run my own band (BrassKnot on UA-cam and Instagram), and I'm using all of my all-state experiences to help me in what I do now, and in the future!
wauw amazing happy positive energetic engaged and upmost valuable video , loved it and learned a lot 😎🫶. Kind healthy musical regards from out of Finland from a Dutch guy 💫
YOU BUTCHERED…MY ETUDE! 😅😅😅😅😅
You guys are hilarious and sound GREAT regardless of style.
Dude, that line at 2:50 sounded really nice in classical mode. Could be a melody for your next Sonata 😀 BTW, love your playing in any setting and this parody is hilarious!
it’s just about the vibe bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i always find your tenor videos interesting because for some reason, and I still cant figure out why, you can always tell that your an alto player based on ur tenor sound
Very nice interview, quite a few nice tips/recommendations for self-improvement for such a short video, thank you.
One thing that has bothered me about all-state is in the final round of my senior year my lesson teacher was a judge and the week after he told his students that the other judges had their own interpretation of the slow piece. It was in 6/8 and my lesson teacher said to play it in 6, and so did other high school lesson teachers. Well the other judges and college clinicians would say to play it in 2. So listening to some peoples audition they played their slow piece faster then their fast piece. Still made all-state but that still bugs me
This guy is a very boring saxophonist. So many just like him. No originality. Too much theory and not enough soul.
Let’s hear you play then 🤨
